We provide quick, credible answers to apologetic questions that resource people with a hunger to defend their Christian faith.
The Bible says, "...always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect." (1 Peter 3:15).
To help you engage in conversation, The One Minute Apologist set out to answer tough questions about Christianity, Bible Difficulties, Faith, Religion, Jesus, God, Atheism, Cults, Doctrine, Theology, Ethics, Science, Philosophy, World Religions, and more.
We believe more than ever before there is a great urgency for Christians to exercise their minds for the glory of God. When we study apologetics it is one way we love those who don't know Jesus Christ in a personal way. We love them by privately saturating our minds with God's truth so that we are ready to give a thoughtful Christian answer when asked.
The word "answer" or "defense" is the Greek apologia, from which we get our word “apologetics". Apologetics is simply giving answers to defend the Christian faith through the use of reason. “Reason” is the Greek logos, from which we derive our word “logical.” The Bible displays many logical and factual reasons for our hope in Christ and our passion is to help you defend the beauty of the Christian faith to a world that so desperately needs to know and experience our great Triune God.
DEITY AND HUMANITY OF CHRIST
We believe that Jesus Christ is both fully God and fully man. He exists eternally as God. Two thousand years ago, He took on the form of a man through the virgin birth of Mary; lived a sinless life; died on the cross for the sins of mankind; and rose from the dead on the 3rd day in order to bring the Father glory.
(John 1:1, 20:28; Acts 20:28b; Heb. 1:8a; Titus 1:3b, 2:13)
ORIGINAL SIN AND SEPARATION FROM GOD
We believe humanity was created in the image of God, but this image was deeply distorted due to the fall of Adam in the Garden of Eden. As a consequence of sin, each person is born into sin with a nature that is totally depraved and helpless to obtain salvation apart from grace.
(Gen. 1:26, 2:1-17, 6:5; Rom. 3:10-19; Eph. 2:1-3)
CHRIST'S DEATH FOR SIN AND HIS BODILY RESURRECTION
The only hope of mankind was for Jesus Christ, the perfect sacrifice, to give His life on the cross for His people. In His death, He took on the sin of mankind and three days later He physically and bodily defeated death by being raised to life through the resurrection.
(John 3:16; Rom. 5:8, 10:9-10)
There is one God who is revealed in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each of these three Persons is fully God, yet there are not three gods, but One. The Trinity is eternal and has no beginning, nor end. The Trinity is holy, sovereign, gracious and just.
(Matt. 28:19-20; Mark 12:29; John 1:14; Acts 5:3-4; 2 Cor. 13:14; Heb. 1:1-3; Rev. 1:4-6)
RETURN OF CHRIST PHYSICALLY
We believe in the imminent return of Jesus Christ. He will return and the Church will live in perfect peace with Him throughout all eternity and there shall be no end.
(Ezek. 37:21-28; Matt. 24:15-25; 2 Tim. 3:1-5; Rev. 20:1-3)
INERRANCY AND AUTHORITY OF SCRIPTURE
We believe that the Bible is without error in its original form and that it is the churches absolute authority for life and godliness. We believe that the Bible was written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to draw people to Christ and to develop people to become more like Him to the glory of God.
(Mark 12:26, 12:36, 13:11; Luke 24:27; 2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Pet. 1:21)
NECESSARY SALVATION BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH IN CHRIST ALONE
We believe that a person is only saved through placing their faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Faith is a gift and it is given because no one could obtain salvation apart from the grace of God or by his or her own good works.
(John 14:6; Eph. 2:8-9)
ETERNAL SECURITY OF THE BELIEVER
We believe that once a believer places their faith in Jesus Christ they will always be saved. Not everyone who professes Christ is sincere, but each person who genuinely receives Christ will never lose his or her salvation. However, we believe salvation always produces genuine life change. The same faith God gives someone to be saved with is the same faith God gives to him or her to become more like Christ.
(John 5:24, 10:28, 13:1, 14:16-17, 17:11; Rom. 8:29; 1 Cor. 6:19; Heb. 7:25)
